$75 Weekly Shopping and Menu 12-31-18

Happy New Year’s Eve! Tomorrow’s the start of a new year and I can’t wait to get working on my goals. Do you have any plans for tonight? I will probably be in bed by 8:30 because #momlife, and I’ve also been sick for about a week.

This week I’m focusing a lot on emptying my freezer. I have a few more freezer meals from November that need to be eaten, and they should be gone by next week.

That will get us set up for a 3-week Daniel Fast that our church is doing starting January 10th. The next three shopping posts will look a little different (maybe even healthier!) because we’ll be basically eating only fruits and vegetables, so just be prepared for that.

One thing I haven’t been doing that I’ll start from now on is focusing on the sale produce on the front page of ads. I know that’s obvious, but I haven’t been taking advantage like I should be; and with the Daniel Fast and a new Beachbody program coming up, I need to get the most out of my money.

This is why I’ve bought 4 crowns of broccoli, because 99 cents is a steal compared to $1.59.

I also received this monstrous 8-quart Instant Pot for Christmas (yay!), so look forward to tons of tips, recipes, and possibly failures as I learn how to use this thing. My first attempt will be dried beans, so wish me luck!

Just wondering if you ever make your own yogurt? I do mine in a cooler with hot water. It's very easy and much cheaper (and healthier!) than store-bought. The only 'special' equipment you need is a glass jar to incubate the yogurt in. I did finally invest in the cloth draining bags but you can just use a colander and a square of clean t-shirt fabric or coffee filters if you like greek-style yogurt. Plus, the whey you strain off is great for bread baking! I save over $1000.00 a year over buying individual cups of greek yogurt.

Love your blog! God bless!

I've never made my own, but I got an Instant Pot for Christmas that has a yogurt function! I may have to try this. Thanks for the inspiration!

Happy new year to you too!!! =) I was thinking about you when it came to the Daniel Fast, so hopefully I can come up with a couple good recipes!

I'm not sure yet if I'm doing another pantry challenge. It was fun, but I actually don't have a lot of random stuff in my kitchen anymore! Maybe I'll come up with something. =)
