BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers (Easy Stovetop Recipe)

You don't need a grill to make delicious burgers! These BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers are smoky-sweet, are cooked on the stovetop, and ready in about 20 minutes!

So here's the thing: We have a grill. But it's in a very inconvenient location in our garage.

It's pushed up against the wall, right next to my car, and next to the trash bins. So in order to use it, I have to open the garage door, move the trash bins, and roll out the grill.

I have ADHD, so if something takes more than 3 steps to get done, I'm out.

Needless to say, we don't grill much here!

Just mix and form the patties, cook in a skillet, and that's it!

Ingredients for BBQ bacon burgers, on a stovetop

Ingredients and Tools Needed

This easy recipe makes 4 burgers! Here's what you need:

  • Ground beef
  • Brown sugar
  • Chili powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • BBQ sauce
  • Bacon
  • Sliced cheddar cheese
  • Hamburger buns

Another useful tool is a meat thermometer! Sometimes it's hard to tell whether your burgers are done, so this will give you an accurate temperature.

Can You Make These Burgers Without a Grill?

Absolutely! I don't have the brainspace to get out the grill every time I want to cook, so the stovetop is a perfectly acceptable substitute.

What's the Best Way to Know When the Burgers are Done?

The most accurate way is with a meat thermometer. Even if the outside of your patties are nice and browned, the inside could still be raw.

The safest internal temperature is 165 degrees F, and that's for a more well-done burger.

Can you Make the Patties Ahead of Time?

Yes, you can form the patties and wrap them in plastic wrap while still raw. Keep them in the fridge overnight if needed, or put in a gallon-sized freezer bag and use up within 3 months.

This would make great meal prep burgers, especially because making burger patties can take a lot of time!
