$75 Weekly Shopping and Menu 3-4-19

Well, this is the last full week of my Whole30, and I have mixed feelings about it.

On the one hand, I really like eating this way because I'm never hungry. I eat 3 big meals a day instead of 6 small ones, and I feel really good.

On the other hand, I really want to eat yogurt and bread every day, too. Hopefully neither of those is causing my skin problems. March 13th is when I start re-introducing foods, so not long to go!

I have come across some interesting recipes, though. For instance, I've never thought about making my own mayo until now. I hardly eat it anyway. But man, this stuff is good. Here's the recipe- I've just been using it to dip everything in as my plated fat, which seems gross but it's effective!

Our 8-year anniversary is tomorrow (Yay!), but since we can't properly celebrate yet I'm making a Whole30-compliant steak dinner to enjoy at home. I'm not good at cooking steak (at all). Any good marinade recipes?

Also as a heads-up: We've set aside some extra money for groceries this month in case we need it. I've been toe-ing the line pretty consistently the past few weeks, and I feel like we just need a little bit more money to carry me through this Whole30. So we have an extra $35 sitting around this month for that reason.

This week I did pretty good, though! Here's what I was able to buy:

  1. I tried this marinade once and it was pretty good.

    1/2 cup soy sauce
    2 TBSP olive oil
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 tsp all-purpose seasoning salt
    1/4 tsp ground ginger
    1/4 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp garlic powder

Add all ingredients in a zip lock bag (you can use a bowl to help keep bag upright.) Seal bag and shake gently to mix, squis it with your hands to mix well. Add steak and marinate 3-6hrs.

  2. I just found your blog a few days ago after searching for frugal recipes. All of the other "frugal" ideas were not really going to save me any more money then I already am. I was hoping to be able to cut costs on our grocery bill even more. I was starting to think that was impossible until I found your blog! I am really enjoy all of your recipes and ideas and I can't wait to see more from you!
