Welcome to the first post in my series called the ABCs of Frugal Living!
Each week, for 26 weeks, I’m using a letter of the alphabet to bring you the best tips on how to save money. It can be a store, a website, or resource; anything that I think will benefit you financially!
As this week is letter A, I’ve decided to choose Aldi because it’s my go-to store when shopping. Aldi can save you at least $37.00 a month on groceries, and here’s how.
I came up with a list of general pantry items you may keep in your kitchen. I did not include produce, meat, or eggs/milk, because those prices vary so much week-to-week and depending on the season.
Each item on this list was checked at both Meijer and Aldi, where I shop most often, and all the prices reflect the store brand of each item at retail price.
I also include the total savings on each item depending on how often you may buy it; I tried to make it generally accurate, but you may purchase more or less of these, or none at all! Let’s break it down.

- $3.28 at Meijer, $1.69 at Aldi

Total: $37.58
To be honest, some of these prices surprised me. Meijer’s block cheese is $3.28?? I’ve tried their brand before, and I can’t tell a difference between that and Aldi’s cheese. Pancake syrup is another one; I just can’t believe the price difference between the two.
If you’re not brand-loyal, try doing all of your general shopping at Aldi instead of where you usually shop and see how much money you save. I can honestly say that you can save much more than $37 a month by shopping at Aldi if you buy most everything else there: Baking supplies, chips, granola bars, cereal, most produce, even milk and eggs depending on the week.
Not sure what else to buy? Check out my post on what to buy at Aldi!
What items would you add to this list that you find cheaper at Aldi? Post in the comments below!

We went shopping at Meijer yesterday and spent more than usually but we always go a lot more than we usually do as well. I'll have to pick up these items from Aldi before heading to Meijer again.
