Weight Loss Update 11-23

Well guys, I’m disappointed in myself. Once again, I’ve lost zero weight this week. Still haven’t gained any, which is good, but I made a few mistakes this week which really hurt me.

Weight loss this week: None
Weight loss since May 2015: 16.2 pounds

I think my main nemesis this week was fudge and gingerbread. My grandmother is an excellent baker, and I may have binged a little! I think my problem was misjudging the calories; I LOVE home baked goods, but if I don’t make them myself, I have to get on MyFitnessPal and make my best guess. I’m totally not complaining at all; it’s just an observation I’ve made over these past few months! I probably guessed way wrong on these treats, so I ate more than I should have. Add to that the fact that I ate them every day, and we’ve got a bit of a problem!

Starting these next couple weeks, I’m making a few changes in what/how I eat. My typical day goes like this:

  • Breakfast
  • Mid-morning snack
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon coffee
  • Dinner
  • Before-bed snack

This seems to work pretty well for me! I make sure that my first snack is about 100 calories, and then I’m good the rest of the day. Technically, my daily calorie limit is 1400, but because I exercise and get 10,000 steps a day, MyFitnessPal gives me extra calories, so I typically eat between 1700-1800 calories a day. My evening snack is what gets me; I see that I have a good amount of calories left so I tend to splurge on a dessert, and I think that’s contributing to my lack of weight loss. So what I’m going to try is limiting my evening snack to about 200 calories. That sounds like a lot now that I’m typing it out, but there are days when I have like 400 calories left and I use them all. So if I limit it to 200, I’m still getting a good snack, but it’ll keep me from overeating if I happened to eat more calories than I think I did throughout the day.

I have until December 31st to lose these last 4 pounds! I know I can do this, and hopefully this small change will really help. Wish me luck! Let me know below how you’re doing as well!
