Weekly Shopping and Menu 6-13-16

Sharing is caring!

We're eating for only $30 a week for a (hopefully) short period of time! Want to see how? Check back every Monday for a new shopping list and menu! Week of: 6-13-16. www.nogettingoffthistrain.com

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I spent all of Saturday morning in the sun volunteering at an event, so I’m pretty much all Summer-ed out this weekend. Because of our weird weekend schedule, I did shopping Friday night instead of Saturday, and I’m glad I did! Aldi had bananas marked down to $.25 a pound instead of $.44, so I grabbed 4 bunches. This will be enough for breakfast, plus Allison’s lunch, plus snacks, yay! I love when little surprises like that happen.

I think the hardest thing right now about spending $30 a week for groceries is buying the non-food essentials. Like, John needed more hairspray and I needed to get some training toothpaste for Allison. Normally I’d just take that out of my weekly grocery budget, but since those two together were $6.00, I put it on a gift card I had, as well as the frozen veggies I was buying at Meijer anyway. That really helped this week, for sure! Let’s see what else I got.

I noticed you buy a lot of oatmeal at Aldi, at my Sam's club it is much cheaper, it is a little investment up front but you can you use swagbuck cards there.

Thank you for the tip, Kelly, I don't think I've ever checked Sam's Club for oats! I'll compare prices this weekend for my store. =)
