$75 Weekly Shopping and Menu 8-28-17

This is another week of “How much can I stock up with my money?”. I had saved some money to buy frozen vegetables, but 2 weeks in a row Meijer was sold out; so I’ve been in a huge surplus figuring out what else to buy. Luckily, Sam’s Club and Big Lots are always more than willing to take my money! We’re also eating out twice this week, so that’s definitely helped save some money on the grocery budget.

Best buys this week include chicken at $1.60 a pound, peanut butter $2.00 off for Sam’s Instant Savings event (it’s John’s favorite snack, so these should last awhile), and the pumpkin yogurt cups. Those actually weren’t on sale, but I saw my friend Stephanie had one and I had to bust out the Fall celebrations rather early!

Power Bar: Free with Free Friday Download
Dannon Pumpkin Greek yogurt: $1.00
2 packages Chobani Smooth: $1.00 each

  • Used 2 $.50/1 coupons that were in front of the display
  • Final Cost: $.50 each, or 25 cents per cup. Not bad for Greek yogurt!

2 loaves Nature’s Harvest whole wheat: $.50 each
2 loaves Sara Lee Artesano: $.50 each
Sara Lee Artesano Golden Wheat: $1.00

Total: $3.00. All except one went straight to the freezer!

4 cups Dannon Pumpkin Greek yogurt: $1.00 each. I liked the one so much I went back and bought more!
Vinegar: $2.69
5 packages of strawberries (1 not pictured): $1.25 each
3 bags Tyson chicken breasts: $3.99 each. These were 2.5 pound bags, so about $1.60 a pound.
Parmesan cheese (Not pictured): $3.59
Silk almond milk (Not pictured): $2.99

  • Used $1.00/1 mPerks coupon
  • Final Cost: $1.99

Total: $15.49 after the $15.00 in rewards I received last week!

Total: $17.83
Weekly Total: $99.95. Also included were 3 zucchini purchased from the Farmer’s Market. I used the rest of the overage from previous weeks, so back to $75 next week!

Black bean zucchini brownies* (Attempting this again without the surprise cumin in the beans!), strawberries, crackers*, hummus*, string cheese, bell pepper slices
