Okay, two things before you scroll down:

1.) Don’t judge me.

2.) This is not a typical grocery week: I repeat: Not a typical grocery week.

Two things happened while I was planning my grocery trip that made this week look really strange. Last week while at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, we saw tons of candy for really cheap that I wanted to donate to church for our Easter egg hunt, so I decided to use $30 of my grocery money this week for that and do a pantry challenge of sorts to eat out of our freezer/pantry, buying mostly produce. Plus, I had a 15% off coupon for signing up for their rewards program, so I knew this was the best time to do it!

The day after I committed to doing this, I found out our church was doing a week-long Daniel Fast the same week I wanted to use a lower grocery budget. Oops. Since I knew I already had lots of rice, beans, and frozen vegetables in the house, I figured we’d be okay. For those that don’t know, a Daniel Fast consists of a diet including but not limited to:

  • Fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables
  • Beans/lentils
  • Whole grains like rice and quinoa
  • Water

Basically, a vegan diet, but no bread or sugar. This means that my menu this week might be a little boring, so sorry if you were looking for something different! Allison will not be participating, which is why you’ll see dairy products below. Here’s everything I bought this week, and remember, it is very different from my normal trips!
