I totally love the holidays, but not the crazy busy-ness that goes with it! I keep telling myself if I can get through the next week, I’ll be great! Lots of planning for family Christmas, as well as things for MOPS and church. The bulk of it is next week, so I’ll finally be able to relax after that. Look forward to lots of updates and pictures! Here’s what you may have missed on the blog this week:
What I’m loving this week
My beautiful Christmas tree! One thing we do every year is put up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. It’s always fun to get out all the decorations and find things you forgot you even had. This year was even more fun because Allison was old enough to help! She kept asking about Christmas time and how she wants Christmas time, and now that the tree’s up she’s even more excited.
New clothes! My parents blessed me with a trip to Kohl’s to get some new clothes, and I think this shirt is my favorite. It’s incredibly soft and I can’t wait to wear it! I was never a fan of long-sleeved shirts; I think it was a texture thing. I’m slowly growing fond of them now though, and it’s nice to not wear huge t-shirts every day!
We made this Advent Calendar at MOPS last week and it’s super cute! In each bag is a Bible verse telling the Christmas story, as well as a character magnet that Allison can stick on the fridge. I want to start doing an Advent Calendar every year now; Allison is having lots of fun opening the bags, and she gets excited about getting to open one every day.
Naptime! I love my daughter dearly, but naptime is one of my favorite times of the day. I love the quiet in the house, and just being able to sit and focus on something for longer than 5 minutes. She’s been getting a lot better at naps, too! It used to be she would sleep for maybe an hour and be done, but the past couple weeks she’s been napping for 2+ hours. Yesterday was 3 hours, and I had to wake her up! It’s been awesome! She’s happy, I’m happy, it’s a good life.
Neopets! I’ve been playing this off and on for 13 years now, and I keep finding myself coming back. It’s a virtual pet site that lets you play games, take care of your pets, and join some amazing communities. I’ve made so many friends there, and there are some aspects of this game I can’t get enough of, like running a shop and playing the stock market. It’s strange to say this, but Neopets has taught me a few lessons about real life, like supply and demand, and saving/budgeting my money.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
