New Morning Routine

Sharing is caring!

New morning routines can be tough, especially when you have kids. Here's what I've had to do to adjust to toddler schedules! #ad

Well, friends, I’ve had to change my morning routine a little… again. That’s the thing about having kids; just when you get one good routine going, the little ones suddenly decide that plans need to change! Recently, for a few days in a row, Allison has decided not to nap. And I’m not talking “complacently get into bed and just talk to stuffed animals”. It’s more like “cry and whine about not being tired and getting carried into bed”. Yeah, those were a rough few days.

For the past while, my naptime routine for blogging has been to write the next day’s post. Afternoons seem to be my most productive and creative time, so this was just the norm. However, if I know Allison’s in her room and not sleeping, my creative streak just plummets and all I can do is grumble about her not sleeping. So! I’ve had to switch gears and force myself to be creative in the mornings, before she wakes up. It’s been difficult, but I’m learning how to make every minute count.

Now that John’s back to work, I’m re-learning to do things myself again, like emptying the dishwasher in the mornings. He was such a huge help, and now that he’s gone in the mornings, I’m like, “How did I ever do this without him???” So in addition to my early morning workouts AND blog writing, I need to find time to tidy the kitchen/do other chores before Allie wakes up. Oh yeah, and find time to eat breakfast somewhere in there.

I found these Jimmy Dean® Stuffed Hash Browns in the freezer section at Wal Mart and thought I’d give them a try. If I’m going to be typing/emptying the dishwasher/tidying in general, I’ll sometimes want a quick breakfast that I can just heat and eat, preferably with one hand. I have to say, I’m impressed! Here’s what I love:

  • 9 grams of protein. After my workouts, I’m HUNGRY and I need that protein to get me through the morning.
  • The crisping sleeve. You know how microwaves tend to make food mushy? Putting the hash brown in the crisping sleeve actually keeps it nice and crunchy!
  • It’s stuffed with Jimmy Dean meat and cheese. I bought the sausage and cheese kind, and I’m hooked. Sausage is one of my favorite things to eat in the morning to keep me full.
  • 2 minutes and it’s done. I’m all about multi-tasking, so I continue emptying the dishwasher while my breakfast cooks. It’s also perfect for when I hear Allison waking up, because then I can just heat and eat in no time.

I can tell that quick breakfasts like this are going to be my norm for awhile, and Jimmy Dean Stuffed Hash Browns just makes it easier for me to get my day going. I highly recommend giving the Stuffed Hash Browns a try, and here’s a great coupon good for $1.00 to get you started!

I truly wish kids would just nap forever. But for now, I’ll just take advantage of every minute I have and try to learn some time management skills along the way!
