Last Saturday was our 5-year wedding anniversary, and we spent the afternoon as a family at Dave and Busters. We actually went because our friend was having a surprise birthday party there, and we thought it’d be cool to just make it a date, too! Allison had been there once before sometime last year, and had a ton of fun running around and pressing buttons. There was still a lot she couldn’t do, but that didn’t stop her from enjoying herself.
The first thing we did was play Fruit Ninja. She’s familiar with the touch screens, as she’s played with her tablet before and has played bubble popping games at Chuck-E-Cheese. It’s so hard to get good, clear shots when it’s dark inside and she’s constantly moving!
I think her favorite was the racing game, as we played at least twice and then she wanted to sit by herself and drive. We were SO close to beating John the first time around, but he snuck by us at literally the last second and claimed victory.
My favorite game, of course, was Guitar Hero. It’s so hard to play at home now, so I took advantage of the opportunity and found that my Expert skills were just a little rusty. Of course, Allie had to join in. Come to think of it, she hasn’t stopped talking about hearing guitars or playing guitars and now I realize why, haha.
She got pretty good at this one. You just press the button and little discs land on one of the colors, and you get a certain number of tickets. She racked up quite a bit!
There was no way we could leave without getting her something, so we redeemed her tickets for Fluttershy. This child LOVES My Little Pony. As soon as I pulled out Fluttershy, I saw Applejack behind that one, but at 950 tickets per toy, I figured we’d stick with just one. =) She looks so worn out here; that’s what no nap does for you!
We can’t have an anniversary day without going out to eat. Skyline Chili is awesome, and I somehow convinced Allie to eat spaghetti noodles along with her big bowl of crackers. That’s the face she makes when she finds a good, long noodle, much like at the Chinese buffet where she’ll pack about a pound of lo mein noodles.
It was kind of a long day, but super fun! Great way to spend our 5-year anniversary. Have a great weekend!
