So I have to be honest: I’m not all that fond of summer. While I’m thankful for warmer weather, I hate the extreme heat, especially when Allison wants to play outside. It’s now a huge ordeal to put sunscreen on us every time we go out, make sure she drinks enough water, and also make sure she doesn’t stay out too long in case of heat stroke or something. There is one thing I love about summer, though: Water. And Allison loves it, too. I can get out the sprinkler or splash pad and let her go at it (Although she wants me to jump in too), and it’ll wear her out enough that she’ll (hopefully) take good naps/sleep in! I completed almost everything on our Winter Bucket List, and although I didn’t do one for spring, I created one for summer that Allison should enjoy.
I needed simple stuff because she’s only 2, and I don’t like being outside for long periods of time. I think I have a good mixture of indoor/outdoor activities, and these are pretty generalized so you can enjoy this list with your kids, too! The one we’ll probably do the most is King’s Island and their water park. I haven’t been to their water park in forever, and although I don’t do water slides, we’ll have plenty of fun in the big wave pool and lazy river, along with some of the kids’ stuff that’s there.
Another thing I’m excited about is the Summer Reading Program that’s going on at our library. I grabbed a brochure that has a list of 30 activities we can do, and the more we do, the more prizes Allison can get. A lot of them are about reading books and talking about them, which is something we do anyway and Allie loves it. Honestly, some of the stuff in here is like “Really? That’s fun?” But I have to remember that she’s a toddler, and toddlers find this stuff fascinating.
What’s on your summer bucket list? I’m hoping to find more things for us to do this season!
