We’re back from vacation!!! We traveled 8 hours to New York to spend almost a week with family, and it was amazing. Allison did so well in the car; she had lots of toys and books to keep her occupied, and movies entertained her all the way home.
One of the coolest places we visited was the Strong Museum of Play. It’s a HUGE museum where kids can run around and play, climb, read, and learn about the history of toys. There was also a miniature Wegman’s grocery store where the kids could take a shopping cart and actually shop for real items (The boxes were empty, but actual boxes from the store). Then they could take the cart to checkout, load the items on the belt, scan them and “pay”, and even get a receipt for everything they bought! It was the coolest thing ever, and I think Allison may have appreciated it more if she was older, but she still enjoyed it.
She also had her first trip to the zoo! It’s amazing; you can read all about animals in books, and see their pictures and know what noises they make, but there’s something about seeing the animal up close and personal that’s awe-inspiring. I think her favorite animal there was the wolf; she kept wanting to go back and see it. And we got her a stuffed snow leopard as a souvenir, which she insisted on sleeping with that night. =)
All in all, it was such a relaxing trip, but I’m glad I’m home. I didn’t do a whole lot of blog work over the week, so I have a lot of catching up to do! Not to mention all the extra housework. As I’m writing this Sunday night, our fridge is pretty much empty because I usually do my grocery shopping on Saturdays, so I have to take Allison out Monday morning to do a huge grocery run. Look out, Aldi!
Goals for this week
Get back into a normal routine: I didn’t do any of my routine exercises at all, and my eating habits were not the best. That’s going to be the hardest part for me, because once I stop doing a habit, I don’t have the motivation to start back up again. As well as my fitness routine, I’m going to start a new cleaning routine that will hopefully keep my house in order! I think this goal is pretty much going to take up my entire week.
