Goals for This Week 6/15

Sharing is caring!

Goals

Has it been really hot for anyone else this week?? It’s been a mixture of hot and rainy, which is no good for outdoor travels! We did a lot of indoor playing, with a few trips to the store to let Allison run around instead of sitting in the cart.

Does anyone else here use cloth diapers for their little ones? We do, and one of the more frustrating things is that I have to change her very often, at least every two hours if not more. Cloth diapers just aren’t as absorbent, so we go through a couple outfit changes every day, as well. One of the more embarrassing times was on Monday, when my sister and I took Allison to McDonalds to play. Her socks and clothes got dirty from the slide, so I was going to change her outfit anyway. She crawled up into my sister’s lap and cuddled, and when she got down there was a huge stain on my sister’s pants where Allison’s diaper leaked. Oops! Allison had a change of clothes; my sister did not. So we had an interesting time trying to help her escape while hiding the wet spots. It’s always an adventure when we three girls get together!

I’ve been reading Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine this week (Affiliate link)! She runs MoneySavingMom.com, a blog I keep up with regularly. This book is helping me SO much in figuring out my priorities and how to make time for all of them. Seriously, if you need help with time management (and who doesn’t?), check out this book. I’m only on chapter 3 but my eyes have been opened to how much time I’ve been wasting on pointless stuff.

Wednesday I went to a car seat manufacturing company to take part in a study, to give my opinions on the fashion and designs of the car seats. I received a $50 Visa gift card for an hour of work! If any of you moms are looking for some extra cash, look in your area for companies like this who are looking for moms’ opinions. It’s a good way to make a little extra money, and most places will let you bring your kids! My time slot was during Allison’s nap, so I just had my mom come over and sit while I went.

So, how did I do on my goals last week?

Put away all laundry the day I do it: FAIL! It’s currently Sunday afternoon as I’m typing this, and some of Thursday’s laundry is staring at me from inside the basket. I did finish Monday’s laundry on Tuesday, though! Thursday was just extremely rough; I walked into Allison’s room that morning to find everything covered in poop and then she didn’t nap that day. I didn’t even wash all the laundry I wanted! I had used up all my Mommy Points by early afternoon, so I just checked out the rest of the day. Naptime is precious, people! Take advantage of your kids’ naps while you can.

Read one chapter of a book every day: I did READ every day, just not a whole chapter! Like I said above, I’ve been reading Say Goodbye to Survival Mode and the chapters are about 20 minutes long, plus I’ve been trying to do the exercises in each chapter. It takes me about 2 days to finish a chapter, which is still pretty good!

Goals for this week

Put away laundry the day I do it: I’m still going to work at this one! It should be so easy, but I just never do it.

Spend 15 minutes every night catching up with John: It’s so hard to get quality time in at night because we’re just so tired. I’m aiming to spend 15 minutes each night getting in good, quality conversation to try and connect better.

Start planning for our vacation: We’re leaving for New York in a couple weeks! There’s a lot to do: Make a list of everything to pack, plan events/outings for those days, and write/schedule blog posts for when I’m gone. So much to do! Better start now.

I love reading people's goals! They're always so inspiring. If you haven't done so already, you should post this on Classy Sassy and Bit Smartassy Blog. Her and another fellow blogger ( her sailing soul) do a week blog hop on Monday's called Coffe Talk, We post our weekly goals there. I loved it so much I turned my goals into a series. But it might be something to look into! Good luck and excellent post!

Awesome, thanks! I've read her blog but didn't realize there was a blog hop. I'll have to check it out!

Thanks! I love reading and used to read all the time, but when Allison was born I just felt like I didn't have time.

I used to cloth diaper! I find a really good diaper brand will give you more absorbency. I also used liners on top which helped sometimes. If they are not absorbing you might want to try stripping them. You can google how to do this well..or it might have to do with your detergent. Good luck!

Thanks! I think part of it is she's learning to control her pee, so when I change her the first time it's almost completely dry, and 10 minutes later she just lets loose everything, and the poor diaper can't hold it all!

It has been raining here horribly, and we are looking at maybe having a Hurricane fly in with a direct hit by the weekend, so no travel here either. I, too, have also been stuck indoors with little to no motivation. I must say, that the laundry is by far my worst enemy right now. Oh its all clean, but it just sits there in the basket. ROFL!

Oh my, be safe in that hurricane! I'm happy to announce that I finished all the laundry in the same day! =)

I really should read this book. I've been thinking of blogging about being a writer in survival mode. It's not a comfortable place.

Definitely not a comfortable place! I bet the book will help. =)
