Goals for 2017

Goals for 2017: www.nogettingoffthistrain.com

We’re 4 days into 2017; how are you all doing? I’m finally back to a normal routine since John’s back to work. Time to be productive again!

Last year I posted my goals for 2016, and it really helped to glance at them throughout the year to see how I was doing. I used to make resolutions; in fact, I checked my Timehop on New Year’s Eve and saw plenty of them. The problem was that none of them were quantifiable. Most of them said “lose weight”, but I didn’t actually have a plan in place. This year, I have goals. Goals that I can see, with a number in mind, and have a plan to follow through with each of these step-by-step. Nothing is going to stop me this year! Here are my goals for 2017, both personal and blogging.

Personal

Mom’s Night Out once per month

Mental Health Day once per quarter- I took a mental health day back around July, I think. I took a Saturday morning/afternoon and just went out and relaxed. I took a walk, got Starbucks, went shopping, played video games, and had lunch at Panera and got some work done. It was wonderful, and did wonders for my frazzled emotional state. I decided that once a quarter, I just need a reset.

Play my favorite video game 1 hour per week- I don’t usually schedule this sort of time for myself, but I miss it. Before Allison, I used to have 5-hour long video game sessions, but obviously I can’t do that now. At least one night a week, I’ll play for one hour after Allison goes to bed.

Run four 5ks, one per quarter- I have 3 out of 4 picked out already! I’m so pumped to start training again.

Start a beginner’s weight training program

Reach my protein and fat macro goals every day- I’m learning more and more every day about nutrition and how macros work, and it’s fascinating. I’ve significantly upped my protein intake and carefully track everything to make sure I’m doing okay.

Date night out with John once a month

Read 2 self-care books on motherhood

Pray at least 15 minutes every day

Write and publish my e-book by April 1st- This is what I’m most nervous about. All of last year I kept saying, “Yeah, I’m gonna write a book!” but nothing ever really happened. This year, I have a plan. It’s on paper. And I aim to have it out by April 1st.

Lots of big plans this year! Like I said, I have a plan in place for pretty much all of these, and I’m pumped to get started. What are your goals for 2017? Post them below, I’d love to see!

You have fantastic goals! I can't wait to see what you accomplish this year. One that I may copy from you is taking a Mental Health Day!

Thanks! I felt so much better after that Mental Health Day, and John already knows he needs to make room one Saturday a quarter for this to happen. =)
