Goals for this week 5/11: www.nogettingoffthistrain.com

I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day yesterday! John let me spend a few hours at Tim Hortons, sipping coffee and doing lots of blog work! When it comes to gifts nowadays, I treasure “me” time more than gifts of chocolate or flowers! Any parents agree with me here? It was a great day and I absolutely adore my husband and daughter.

So, two big things are happening this week, both somewhat related to each other. First of all, I ordered the Beachbody PiYo DVD set and started the workouts this morning! It came with a calendar of 2 months worth of workout routine schedules, as well as sample eating plans. After my health scare with my heart, I knew I needed to make some changes in my life, including drinking more water, exercising, and eating healthier, and I think purchasing this DVD is the first step in changing my lifestyle!

That brings me to number two: I may have mentioned before that at the beginning of this year I challenged myself to use my slow cooker every day for a year, and it’s definitely been difficult! I did pretty well with not repeating recipes, and I tried new recipes I’d never considered making before. I did run into a few issues, though. I found myself spending more money on ingredients than I had previously, and it was hard to schedule things for the week because I had to work around my meals. “Well, we CAN go out for dinner instead, but I still have to make something in my slow cooker!” I’d end up with a TON of food that we just couldn’t eat. We stuck a bit of it in the freezer, but haven’t had a chance to eat it yet because I still keep making more food than we can handle. Plus I’m starting to eat healthier, and most of the things I make in the slow cooker aren’t so healthy. I know there are plenty of healthy and clean-eating recipes, but they require buying ingredients that I’d never use except for that recipe, which gets expensive. So because of all these, I’ve decided this is the last week of my challenge. It was fun, but I just don’t think I can handle 8 more months! You can view my journey on Facebook and Instagram.

So, how did I do on my goals last week?

Practice sewing: I just couldn’t find time! Allison decided not to nap 2 days in a row, so I spent a couple of those nights playing catch-up on blog work, and then I was just too tired the other nights. I’ll try again this week!

Find another task manager: I mentioned last week that John used Any.Do, which he did for awhile, but I forgot he switched to Wunderlist. I added it back onto my phone and put a few things on it, but I keep forgetting to check it. Gotta keep working on that!

Come up with more goals: I did manage to do this! You’ll see them below.

Goals for this week

Practice sewing: Back on this week’s list! Gotta do this at least one day this week.

Keep up with my workout routines: I hope I can do this! I was averaging every other day, but this schedule has me going 6 days a week, so it might be rough for awhile.

Send John a text every day: I love this man dearly and don’t show my appreciation enough! I want to start sending him encouraging text messages every day to help him get through the work day.

Read a chapter a day: I mentioned last week I bought “How to Blog for Profit Without Selling Your Soul”, and over the weekend I bought “Say Goodbye to Survival Mode” by Crystal Paine of Money Saving Mom. Both are amazing books, and I aim to read one chapter a day from each of these to motivate and encourage me in my personal and business life!

Good goals there mate! Loving the fitness theme as my week is full of gym inspired goals too! I’m currently at 23% body fat so my goal for the end of this week is to hit at least 22.5%! I’m also recovered from an injury now so my second goal is to get back to running, gonna start off small so hit 2k on the road and then I’m happy for now! Goals make us push ourselves which is never a bad thing! xx

I think it’s pretty amazing that you even made it this far with your slow cooker challenge! I definitely couldn’t do that, haha. I hope your workout DVDs and life changes go well!!
