2016 Year in Review

Sharing is caring!

2016 year in review: www.nogettingoffthistrain.com

I’m back from my short break! Did you all have a nice Christmas? I stuffed myself with candy and cookies (and there’s still some left in the house), and Allison’s all set on clothes, toys, and movies for the next year. I thoroughly enjoyed this little break; in the almost 2 years I’ve been blogging, I’ve never set aside time for a “vacation”, and starting next year I’ll try to do this more often. Instead of writing posts this week, I’ve been planning 2017, and wow, I have big goals. I can’t wait to tell you all about them next week, but today, let’s focus on 2016! It’s been a wild ride, with plenty of ups and downs, but we made it, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Let’s start with my 2016 goals! I had 23 goals for the year, both blogging and personal, and I completed 11. Here’s what I accomplished:

  • 1,000 Facebook likes
  • 200 email subscribers
  • Buy a new phone
  • Grow photography skills
  • Create a work space
  • New blog layout
  • Host 2 giveaways
  • Lose the last bit of weight
  • Maintain a workout schedule
  • Go to more playdates
  • Continue MOPS in the fall

I’m pretty proud of myself! I know I only completed about 50% of my goals, but some of these were huge accomplishments and took awhile to do. I’ll have to work pretty hard in 2017 to beat these!

Life events

  • Celebrated one-year blogiversary
  • Allison became fully potty-trained (Those with toddlers know this is a huge life event!)
  • Celebrated 5-year wedding anniversary
  • Turned 30 years old
  • John lost his job in April but found a new one in August
  • Allison stopped napping (I’m incredibly sad, but we’re working through it)
  • Visited Kings Island at least once a week in the summer
  • Allison turned 3

Blog stats

I gotta say, it feels amazing to see those numbers jump. As you can see, my big hitter is Pinterest, which isn’t surprising since about 85% of my traffic comes from there. I have numbers in mind for next year, but we’ll save that for next week when I post my 2017 goals. I didn’t post my page views because it really inflated last December due to a post going viral, then dropped way back down. My highest month was about 50,000, and now it’s about 20,000. It varies from month to month, so it’s hard to say what my typical average is.

It’s been an awesome year and I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings! I’ll be back again starting Monday and have great things planned, including a new series called the ABCs of Frugal Living that starts Tuesday. Happy new year!
