The Christmas tree is up and decorated, and our house is decked out for the holidays. I love seeing what others’ homes look like, so I wanted to show you our humbly-decorated house! It’s nothing spectacular; in fact, I keep meaning to set aside money every year to buy more decorations, but I either forget, or can’t find anything that matches. So, this year is kind of minimalistic until I can find what I want!
I decided that my theme is red and white. Anything candy canes, peppermint, it’s mine. Hobby Lobby has the best stuff ever, and they organize their Christmas aisles by color. I love the pinks and the blues, but red and white remind me most of Christmas. That’s actually where I bought these three pieces, and I always smile when I see them. Luckily, Hobby Lobby almost always has their Christmas decorations 40% or 50% off, so I may be taking another trip there soon!
I’m a big fan of what John did with the garland. It’s red and silver, which matches my decorations! I might see if he can do that to every doorway in the house.
One of my favorite things to look at is tree ornaments. People can get really creative with what they put on their tree; I had a friend who filled her entire house with Christmas trees and each one had a theme. One was Santas, and another was Disney, and I loved walking through her house looking at everything. I’m still amassing a collection, but I love what I have so far.
I just put up the Big Mac ornament the other day because I forgot I had it. I worked at McDonalds for almost 10 years, and I must have gotten it as a Christmas present one year- 2010, in fact, according to the box. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart- and stomach.
Like I said, it’s not a lot, but it’s always nice to be able to decorate at least a little for Christmas! Have you decorated your house? Are you a minimalist, or do you deck the halls every year? I’d love to see pictures if you have them!
