Wait, where in the world did November go??? I love the Fall/Christmas season, and wait all year for it to get here. But then it just zooms by and suddenly it’s January before I even look up again.
November’s been really good to us, though. Despite the super cold weather, we’ve done a lot of fun things. And tonight we’re going to Kings Island for Winterfest, so expect a few pictures on Instagram or Facebook!
In this month’s edition of Breakfast With Bacon, I’m highlighting all the special events of November and what we plan to do next. Here’s what’s been going on in the Bacon household:
1.) I feel like the weather in Ohio went from Summer to Winter in about 5 days, with maybe a hint of Fall somewhere inbetween. Because of that, it’s just been too cold to actually go outside and play. Allison had suddenly decided she wanted to rake leaves, so we bundled up and played outside for awhile. Jumping in leaves is essential for childhood, you know!
2.) This girl’s creativity with LEGOs blows my mind. She watches EllieVToys on Youtube every morning before school, who creates different LEGO scenarios. After watching just one video on a wedding, Allison created this scene basically from memory. Crazy!
3.) This night, a scone and hot chocolate was the perfect day-end treat. Swiss Miss makes the best dark hot chocolate mix, but I just made my own Hot Chocolate Mix again this week and now I’m addicted to it.
4.) There’s a local coffee/chocolates shop right by our Sam’s Club and I don’t get to go often. After visiting Sam’s, I knew I had to treat myself; and what you see there is the result of eating a huge piece of white chocolate bark and wanting to show off her ninja moves.
5.) We bought new couches earlier this month! To be exact, it was two couches and a chair, all reclining. This was all made possible thanks to my blogging income, mostly from Mediavine. A huge thank you to all who read my blog on a daily basis to support me!
The couches we had before were gifted to us seven years ago, and they were already well-loved. So it feels SO good to have something new to enjoy!
6.) Remember what I said earlier about being too cold to play outside? Yeah, this girl hasn’t gotten a lot of exercise. We try to go different places, but it’s hard sometimes. This day we definitely needed a trip to McDonalds to burn off some energy.
7.) One tradition we try to keep is putting up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. John put up the lights outside while Allison and I decorated the tree. She did most of the work, and I have to say she did a nice job!
8.) We watched Wreck-It Ralph 2 on Friday, and it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in awhile. I’m a huge nerd, so I appreciated all the game references. And the ending scenes: Pure perfection. Make sure you stay for ALL of the credits; your day will be made, I promise.
9.) I did something scary this past Saturday- I put myself and my blog out in the public. The wellness office where I used to do massage had an open house, and I went to advertise myself, sell freezer plans, and promote a healthy meal planning class I’m teaching in January.
I’m a huge introvert so this is stretching me big time. But the people in my town have a need, and I think I can help fill it!
Christmas shopping status: I’m like 99% done with all my shopping! I did the majority on Black Friday, and it feels AMAZING. I’m still waiting for some Etsy items to arrive, but Allison and I are wrapping presents like madpeople. And I found a cute/addicting way to decorate gifts- check it out on my Instagram!
What has me most excited: This planner right here. I’ve been using Bloom planners since 2015, and they’re the perfect size for a blogging planner! I use Post-Its for blog post ideas, and the weekly spread is just big enough to fit that Post-It on each day. Plus their designs are super cute- Just look at the coffee. It was made for me.
Currently listening to: A Christmas playlist I made on Spotify. (Does the link even work?) It includes August Burns Red, Pentatonix, and Alex Boye, and I find myself switching between head-banging and crying like every other song. I’m thinking I should just keep this list playing all day.
What I’m struggling with: Honestly, I have a problem with wanting to do everything: Cook something new every day. Bake 12 dozen cookies for people. Write 7 blog posts a week to finish a series. It’s enough to drive a girl mad!
This week I’m just relaxing and letting myself be. I’m sleeping in (Until 4:00 instead of 3:00, mind you), and I’m basically not cooking anything at all. This will probably last all of 2 days in December, but I’m trying, right?
So what’s going on in your world this month?
How much Christmas shopping do you have done?
How do you keep track of calendar events? Phone, planner, or something else?
