So much has happened in the month of June! Kings Island, Cedar Point, a half marathon, and tons of outdoor time. As the month comes to an end, I’m excited to see what July brings us based on how fun June was. I took so many pictures this month and wanted to show them all, but there just isn’t enough space!
This month’s Breakfast With Bacon revolves around everything Summer, and it’s just been a blast! Here’s what’s been going on in the Bacon household this month:
1.) Earlier this month Allison got to try her first ICEE. I was craving a soda and wanted to go to Speedway… but I knew that if I went inside, she would want something, too. Hence, her first ICEE! She only drank a quarter of it because she took so long it all turned to liquid. Now the problem is, every time we pass a Speedway she asks to get an ICEE.
2.) This perfectly describes our family. Tons of veggies on my side of the pizza, pepperoni and jalapenos for John… and plain cheese for Allison. Which she didn’t even eat. Does anyone eat their pizza with hot sauce? It’s heavenly! I used to drown mine in ranch, but hot sauce is just a tad less calories.
3.) My Cedar Point Half Marathon was SO amazing! Here’s my Instagram post in case you missed it. Every half marathon should be like that one, it was just so beautiful and the weather was perfect. Unfortunately, I haven’t ran since then (2 and a half weeks) in an attempt to heal a messed-up hamstring. The problem is apparently just muscular, so I’m hoping with lots of heat, strength training, and massage, I can be back to running in no time!
4.) Allison’s been making the weirdest faces when I take pictures now. She used to be nice and just smile, but now she just gives me dirty looks. We came to McDonalds to play that day because it was just so hot outside… but then she got bored after 10 minutes because there was no one to play with.
5.) Father’s Day at church! We’ve been doing a series loosely based off Star Wars, and Darth Vader happened to be there that weekend so we had to get a picture. Someday soon we’ll introduce Allison to the awesomeness that is Star Wars!
6.) I’d been growing out my hair for about 4 years, and a couple weeks ago I suddenly and immediately got so tired of my hair I donated it the next day. Fourteen inches was cut off and donated to Wigs for Kids! My hair feels amazing now and so much easier to take care of.
7.) Our local library is having a Summer Reading Challenge where you log all the minutes you read to earn prizes. Allison joined the 15-hour club last week and got to write her name on the sheet of paper! She’s such a book junkie; when she gets in the mood, we’ll sit for at least an hour just reading books. One day I had to hack John’s library account because I *somehow* reached our book limit on my account!
8.) Kings Island fun! This day was the last weekend of their Peanuts Celebration, where there were lots of special shows and activities. We got to meet Pigpen, eat Good Grief Donuts, and ride some rides super early! We’re going at least once or twice a week now and we never seem to get tired of it.
9.) This past weekend I got to volunteer at a charity bike ride for church. The riders could choose to ride 25, 50, or 100 miles to raise money for meals to be sent to Africa. Our particular rest stop only saw the 100-milers; and we got to see everyone progress as they turned around and came back the same way. Most made it, some didn’t; but they’ve inspired me to get a bike of my own and try this myself next year!
Currently Reading: The Elfstones of Shannara by Terry Brooks. I’m a bit more slow-going now in listening to my audiobooks, but I’m still trucking along. This series seems to be a bit harder to listen to, as well. I had the same problem with the Wheel of Time series, and I still haven’t finished that one!
Current Exercise: A little bit of everything right now (except running). Walking, elliptical, stationary bike, PiYo, Turbofire… and now I’m finally getting into the weight machines after talking to my gym’s personal trainer. I have to get this hamstring fixed so I can start training for my September half marathon!
Favorite food: Sandwiches. Right now, any combination of deli meat and cheese, and lots of pickles. Summer is perfect sandwich weather, and I’d be okay with eating a sandwich for dinner at least a couple times a week!
Currently playing: For the past couple weeks, it was Farmville; but that game sucks away so much time, it’s ridiculous. So I had to uninstall it this week. Instead, I need to get back into playing video games once a week at a designated time. It was Final Fantasy 13, but I think I want to try DragonballZ Xenoverse 2 that I got for Christmas and haven’t played yet. #nerdalert
