Welcome to April’s edition of Breakfast With Bacon! Once a month I like to give you an inside peek at what happens in the Bacon household. April was fun, between Easter, an awesome IKEA and Jungle Jim’s trip, and the opening of Kings Island! Here’s what’s been going on in our lives this month:
1.) Our Easter egg hunt at church was a success! There were thousands and thousands of eggs, and tons of kids that showed up. Allison made out pretty good, and I’ve done well with portioning out her candy.
2.) My new favorite hot chocolate. I found this pumpkin hot chocolate mix at Ollie’s and I’m hooked! I like to put a packet in my coffee for a makeshift mocha.
3.) Allison tried Chick-Fil-A sauce for the first time and had to show her appreciation! Of course, she ate nothing but half of her fries, but you know… #typicaltoddler
4.) First dentist visit! She did so great that morning; it only took about 10 minutes, and she sat in my lap the whole time. I think reading her some dentist books and talking a lot about what would happen really helped to keep her calm. In the words of Daniel Tiger- “When we do something new, let’s talk about what we’ll do!”
5.) I’ve gotten Allison addicted to Animal Crossing. It’s a really good starter game because all you do is walk around, talk to your neighbors, and just have a chill experience. Video games are amazing for improving hand-eye coordination, as I found out growing up, and I can tell she’s getting better!
6.) I caught her in mid-pose, but the sass in this one is strong. She knows what she wants, and isn’t afraid to tell us; I have a feeling she’ll be a strong leader someday.
7.) We had an awesome IKEA trip a couple weeks ago; for once, we walked in, grabbed what we needed, and got out pretty fast. We usually go to Jungle Jim’s afterward, so a short IKEA trip was good. As you can see, Allison loves to be a helper in any way she can.
8.) And here’s what we ended up with at IKEA! I wanted something to hold all of my video game systems and our movies, and this cube shelf is perfect.
9.) Our MOPS group had a drive-in movie playdate where the kids got to watch Moana and eat popcorn. Most of the kids got up and started playing, but Allison stayed in the box the entire time and ate almost 2 little bags of popcorn. She’s pretty good at sitting still, although it always helps when food’s involved. =)
Currently drinking: Starbucks Sumatra blend coffee, both hot and iced. It’s so good! I can’t wait to try the other kinds I bought. I’ve been using my French press to make iced coffee for my afternoon movie time; for some reason, I’m not fond of hot coffee in the afternoon anymore. Probably due to the warmer weather, but iced coffee is still delicious!
Current obsession: Bullet journaling! I’m not very creative, but it’s been pretty fun browsing Pinterest for ideas. Right now I’ve just been using it for my fitness goals, like my 10k training. It’s pretty inspiring to see myself progress with every run, and it just motivates me to do even better next time!
Currently binge-watching: The new Voltron TV series. I can’t even call it binge-watching though, because I don’t have much time anymore to sit and watch. It’s the one series I’m trying to get through, though. I like the older cartoon, and the new one’s actually pretty good.
Current weather: It’s actually been very nice outside! Except for Saturday at Kings Island, when it suddenly decided to stay at 50 degrees, it’s been pretty warm and sunny. The problem is bees. Allison’s terrified of them, especially the really huge ones that like to fly around our neighborhood. I don’t blame her, but now every time she sees one, or even just a fly, she wants to go back inside. Hopefully she’ll get over it.
And that’s pretty much what’s been going on in our lives this past month! May will be awesome, with two birthdays and a trip to Cedar Point. Here’s to great weather!
