30 Random Facts About Me: Birthday Edition!

So this Sunday, something big is happening. I’m turning 30. I don’t understand how it happened, but I’ve hit my third decade and it makes me kind of sad. I feel like I’ve been in my 20’s forever and I guess I just figured I’d stay that way! It won’t be a huge celebration, but it’ll be a great weekend spent with my family. To help celebrate such a momentous occasion, I’ve typed up 30 random facts about me for you all to laugh at or share with; I’m not very interesting, but I’m sure there’s a few things in here you never knew. =)

1.) When I was little, I choked on a cherry that was on the Hot Fudge Cake at Frisch’s. Since then, I’ve never touched an actual cherry; it’s like a phobia now.

2.) I used to be obsessed with Dragonball Z. Like, so obsessed. One of the walls in my room was covered with Trunks posters; I called it my shrine.

3.) I don’t know how to swim, and I’m not sure if I’ll ever learn.

4.) My favorite food is pickles, and there’s a historical farm nearby where I can get a huge, delicious dill pickle that I can devour in one sitting.

5.) I’m not a big fan of “chick flicks”. Whenever John asks what movie I want to watch, I usually answer with “Anything that has explosions!”

6.) I’m a carb-o-holic. I really try to eat healthy, but the bread just gets me every time. At least most of it’s homemade… homemade = healthy, right?

7.) I was in the choir through all of middle school and the last two years of high school. Never wanted to sing by myself, but really enjoyed the group choir!

8.) I’m a huge introvert; I love having time by myself, but I still find myself craving socialization after too long.

9.) I love ice cream and frappes, and will consume them in the dead of winter. Totally prefer the cold drinks to the hot.

10.) I can’t go anywhere without water. And it doesn’t matter how much I drank before I leave; if I get in the car and realize I don’t have my water, I’m suddenly dying of thirst.

11.) I get up super early every morning, but I also go to bed before 10:00 every night. Just recently when we went to bed one night, the sun was still out. I felt really old at that point.

12.) My standard outfit is jeans and a t-shirt. I don’t like dressing up very often; my comfort is more important than looking decent!

13.) Similar to the above, I pretty much only wear gym shoes, even in summertime. I hate sandals, and I hate the flopping noise they make when people walk.

14.) If a video game lets me change a character’s name, I always name the main character Jaime, boy or girl alike. I like being called Your Highness or Master Jaime.

15.) I always get really big ideas for projects and start out super strong, then lose interest after a week and never touch it again. I.E., cross stitch projects.

16.) I worked at McDonalds for almost 10 years, and quit the week before I got married. I met John there, so it wasn’t all that bad!

17.) At least twice now I’ve attempted a Lord of the Rings marathon with my sister because we love the movies. Problem is, that’s 10 hours long at least, so we usually get a little into the third movie before we quit. Incidentally, we haven’t tried it since Allison was born.

18.) Related to working at McDonalds, I can never bring myself to eat a McGriddle that has cheese on it. Just plain sausage for me. Who would ever eat cheese on a pancake?

19.) I kind of honestly hate the outdoors, unless it’s right around 60 degrees. Summertime is the worst, because I hate bees and run at the first sight of them.

20.) I never actually cooked until after I got married. I did a couple things here and there, but never full-on cooking. Now I can’t get enough of it.

21.) I hate shoes and take them off inside as soon as I can, but I never go barefoot. I was spoiled as a massage therapist because I could get away with walking around in socks all day.

22.) My guilty pleasure is Tourettes Guy. Definitely not safe for children’s ears, but he gives me a good laugh every time.

23.) Ranch dressing used to be my go-to dip for pretty much everything. Chicken, fries, pizza… thankfully I don’t do it as much anymore, but I still feel weird whenever I eat pizza without ranch.

24.) Before Allison was born, I would tell people that I wanted 2, maybe 3 kids. Now that she’s here… we’re happy with one. =)

25.) I didn’t get my driver’s license until I was 19. I didn’t even touch the highway until after I was married at age 24.

26.) I could probably eat Chipotle every day for the rest of my life.

27.) I was born in England, but was only there for a few months before heading back to the U.S.

28.) I’m really good at going to the mall and buying nothing at all… although it’s hard to pull me away from Starbucks.

29.) My favorite thing to do as a child was go to the flea market, straight to the big book store there, and pick up all the Babysitters Club and Goosebumps books I didn’t yet have.

30.) I have never lived alone. I lived with my parents right up until I got married, then moved right in with John in our new house.

Have a great weekend, everyone! My weekend will be spent eating great food and playing at King’s Island.

Hope you have a good birthday! This is a cute idea, I might borrow it come July ;) This post made me realize we have a bit in common, but then I probably wouldn't read your blog if we had nothing in common haha

Ah, this was such a cute little post.

I also never lived with anyone other than my parents/husband. If I'd have lived with my husband before we were married, I might have never married him (JUST KIDDING!!)

Have a great birthday!!! :)
